I just booked a birthday party for little Joshua who will be turning 3 years old on August 20.The last time I did photos of Joshua he was only a year old. I'm sure he's grown up big by now. I think that children are so much fun to work with at that age. It's the time in their lives in which they have become aware of the world around them, they are learning so much every day, and they are at a level that you can actually communicate.The party should be a lot of fun. I will have stay on my toes in order to make sure I can capture some really special shots at his party.

Springville Wedding - Mathews Manor
This past Sunday I had the privilege of assisting Leslie Shiver with a beautiful Jewish wedding at Mathews Manor in Springville, Alabama. The wedding was held outside in the evening time. The outdoor area was gorgeous. Despite the fact that the ceremony was this late in the day it was still quite hot and humid. Gotta love Alabama weather in August!
We had plenty of time beforehand to get some great shoots taken of the bride and groom along with the wedding party. Everyone was looking good! The bride and groom looked so happy together and ready to get through this monumental step in their lives. The ceremony had a nice attendance of about 100 guests. It was a good size being that it felt very intimate. This was the first Jewish ceremony I have ever witnessed, and it was a good learning experience. Perhaps the primary thing I learned is that a Jewish wedding is really performed no differently from a Christian one.
The reception that followed was warm with a fun atmosphere. There were toasts aplenty going around, and there was so much food for the guests to enjoy. Most everyone danced, but of course it was hard to keep from watching the beautiful couple as they danced together for the first time as husband and wife.
Although the evening did end on a bit of a stormy note, it didn't wash away the scene that closed the wedding. The guests all gathered in front with sparklers in hand to wave the happy couple as they ran out to the luxurious Rolls-Royce that awaited them. Overall it was such a joyous occasion. God bless the bride and groom from that evening as their journey begins!
